Born 1:51 am
I had a VERY interesting birth. I started having contractions on Saturday February 26th around 2:30pm. They were 10 mins apart until I went to bed that night. Then they increased to 6 min apart and were a lot stronger through the night. I didn't get any sleep! The all the next day they reduced in intensity and frequency. Sunday night they intensified again and were 6 min apart, I didn't get any sleep again. Monday the contractions slowed again to 10 - 30 mins apart and were not as intense. I was very discouraged and exhausted and frustrated. Monday afternoon we went to the hot springs and soaked. Later my Doula came over and did some pressure points and massage. We also walked and as a last resort tried castor oil. Nothing was happening. Not even from the castor oil..... I had been told to drink lots of water, which I was doing. My doula called a midwife friend and asked what she thought I should do. She suggested that I needed electrolytes, so I took calcium magnesium. 30 mins later my contractions started to kick in, as did the castor oil. It was around 1000pm so this was the usual for my contractions to kick into gear. Being so discouraged and exhausted I decided to have my nurse friend, Kathryn, come and check my progress. She got to the house around 1100 and I was 2 centimeters. May I remind you this was two days into labor! Right after she checked me I felt the baby move and a pop that rocked my world! It was extremely painful. Right then my contractions intensified to an unbearable extreme, I also began to throw up with each contraction. Ya you heard me right, Throw Up!!! I was on the toilet the whole time because it was the most comfortable spot and about an hour and a half into this, and much begging to take me to the hospital for an epidural! I felt the uncontrollable urge to push. Kathryn checked me and I was 10 cent! And the baby's head was close to coming out! Zach drove 95 miles per hour to the hospital 20 miles away. I was pushing uncontrollably the entire drive. We made it to the hospital and the security guard was taking his sweet time with the wheel chair. They asked if I could walk, but I had a baby's head in my pelvis! The security guard finally got me in the wheel chair and asked if this was emergency or maternity. I said Maternity! Maternity! My doctor arrived shortly after I did and told me it was okay to push. The only  thing I remember clearly was looking at my doctors face and thinking, really, you really want me to do this....now....CRAP! 4 pushes later she was born! Kathryn had called the hospital and gave them a heads up, so the doctor just made it in time to deliver Evie. I was there a total of 10 minutes before the delivery. It was 2 am.
I was out of the hospital by 1000 that morning and spent the rest of the day in my own bed with my husband and new baby. Everyone was shocked at the speed of my delivery as well as the speed of my departing the hospital. The usual is to stay for at
least 24 hours. I did not want to hang out there any longer than I had to. It was very interesting and I am not sure I want to do it again! Not anytime soon at least! I am enjoying my Evie Lou and being a mom. Child birth is an amazing experience and I am glad I got to experience it all natural
Much love, Katy a.k.a. Mommy
